Work with Eduard

What Eduard Can Do For Your Space

The conversation starts with the room, not the brush. A commissioned painting sized to your wall, art chosen and hung for the light you actually have, a mural, a plastered ceiling, a whole interior. Fifty years of it, for homeowners and for the designers who bring him in.

For your space

Work on your room

A commissioned canvas, a mural, a plastered ceiling, or the whole interior.

Commission

A painting made for the wall you have in mind.

Send the wall. Its measurements, the light it gets through the day, what sits under it and what the room is already doing. Eduard works back from that to a painting sized, keyed and framed for that exact place, rather than a canvas you then try to find a home for.

Commissions begin with a conversation and photographs, or a walkthrough if you are within reach of the studio. Subject, palette, scale, surface and frame are settled before any paint is mixed. Because Eduard also finishes walls and ceilings, a commission can extend past the canvas: the surface behind the piece, the framing, and the lighting can all be resolved as one decision instead of three.

  • Sized to your wall, not cropped to a standard canvas
  • Palette keyed to the room's existing light, materials and finishes
  • Frame, hanging height and lighting specified with the piece
  • Oil, acrylic, plaster relief and mixed surfaces available

Designers are welcome to commission on behalf of a client; trade terms are discussed case by case.

By commission. Scope and timeline quoted after the first conversation.

Consultation

What belongs in the room, and where it should hang.

A walkthrough of your home, room by room: which walls want art and which want to be left alone, what scale holds a space, how a piece should be framed, how high it hangs, and how the light needs to fall on it.

The consultation covers art you already own as readily as art you are still looking for. Where a surface is working against the collection, Eduard will say so and specify the finish that would hold it. You leave with placement, framing and lighting decisions made, and a plan you can hand to whoever is doing the work.

  • Art selection and placement guidance, room by room
  • Framing, hanging and lighting recommendations for existing collections
  • Advice on which surfaces should be finished to hold the work
  • Available in person, or remotely from photographs and measurements

By project. Availability is limited.

Murals and wall art

When the wall itself should be the painting.

Painted directly onto the wall or ceiling, at whatever scale the space asks for. Eduard's 22-foot ocean mural in the Marriott Hotel Long Beach VIP Lounge has been in continuous use for years, and Mangia Bene Cucina has trusted his murals and Italian wall finishes for 25 consecutive years.

Murals suit the rooms where a framed piece would be lost: a double-height stair, a long hallway, a dining room that wants to feel like somewhere else. Work is done on site, in stages, with the surface prepared first so the paint has something durable to sit on. Residential and commercial commissions are both taken on.

  • Landscape, architectural and trompe-l'oeil subjects
  • Ceilings and architectural accents as well as walls
  • Surface preparation and restoration included in scope
  • Built to survive rooms in daily use, not gallery conditions

By project, quoted after a site visit or drawings.

Surfaces

Venetian plaster, marbling and decorative finishes.

The finishes that change a room before anything is hung on it. Eduard's plaster and marbling work includes all interior marbling at Darya Persian Cuisine in South Coast Plaza, Venetian plaster ceilings in a San Clemente oceanfront home, silver leaf in a Las Vegas lake house, and custom fireplace finishes in Park City.

Plaster is a depth effect: it holds light differently through the day, which is why it reads as material rather than paint. Work covers walls, ceilings, fireplaces and architectural details, on new surfaces or over existing ones after preparation. Clients regularly commission one room and then continue through the house.

  • Venetian plaster, marbling, metal leaf and glazed finishes
  • Ceilings, fireplaces and architectural detail, not only walls
  • Surface preparation and restoration of failed earlier finishes
  • Specified to work with the art and lighting already planned for the room

By project, quoted by surface area and finish.

Ask about a finish

Interiors and drafting

The whole room, taken as one decision.

Where the brief is larger than a single wall, Eduard takes on the interior itself. A Huntington Harbour home became a Tuscany-style estate. A Park City mountain home was finished in Venetian plaster with custom 14-foot drapes. A San Clemente oceanfront home is still celebrated by its owners after 20 years.

Scope covers concept and styling, materials and finishes, lighting, and space planning, with drafting services for measured drawings and layouts where decorative or architectural work needs documenting. Interior designers bring Eduard in for the parts of a scheme that need a hand rather than a supplier: the plaster, the mural, the commissioned piece, the finish nobody else will attempt.

  • Concept, materials, finishes, lighting and space planning
  • Measured drawings and layouts for decorative and architectural work
  • Art integrated into the scheme from the start, not chosen at the end
  • Available to designers as a specialist collaborator on named scopes

By project. A small number of client projects are taken each year.
